Foam units to protect industries

POK® created its first mobile foam unit as part of a fire equipment order in 1982.

This fire-fighting equipment consists of a 100-liter foaming tank on wheels, a foam generating nozzle, an injector of 200 liters per minute, and a 45mm diameter hose length.

This fire-fighting equipment consists of a 100-liter foaming tank on wheels, a foam generating nozzle, an injector of 200 liters per minute, and a 45mm diameter hose length.

This equipment is used to protect factories, petroleum deposits, and high-risk installations.

It involves a minimum training of the staff in fire attack department.

Since these first achievements, our mobile foam units have been improved and transformed to adapt to the ergonomics of the customer base, as well as their requirements.

For example, a version has been made with a 150-liter tank, with 4 wheels, a foam generator nozzle, and a 400-liters per-minute injector, with several lengths of 70mm diameter hose.

The accommodation for all this equipment has been designed to ensure the most accessible storage. In addition, we have worked on the aesthetics so that not only is the mobile foam unit easy to use, but it also has a pleasant presentation to the eye.

The balance of the mobile foam unit has been designed to pass through slightly uneven ground but cannot climb stairs. For these possible unevenness, the unit can be tilted on the 400mm diameter rear wheels and thus pass the obstacle.

The mobile foam unit operates with a pressurized water supply which must therefore be located nearby to be easily accessible.

This fire hydrant must be connected to injector installed on the mobile foam unit. The suction hose supplied with the proportioner must be immersed in the foam tank and it must be ensured that the dosage corresponds to the foam’s specifications, which is generally 3%.

The outlet of the injector must be connected to the foam nozzle via a length of hose.

Of course, all these devices and in particular the hoses must be equipped with couplings.
